"Thomas Curtis … married Mary _____, who married second, (Dep.-Gov.) James Bishop of New Haven. Nothing was known of Thomas or his wife until the discovery of his inventory, dated 1 Dec. 1648, in the Fairfield Probate Files, said to be the oldest document extant in that source. At the bottom of it, under date of 8 June 1652, 'Mary Bishopp wife of James Bishopp maketh oath that this is a trew Jnventory of Tho: Curtis her former husband deceased.' The only known child, Mary, was remembered in the will of her grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Curtis."
