- The Source:Vital records of Roxbury, Massachusetts, to the end of the year 1849, p. 2:673, show several still born children: 1) 17 Apr 1680; 2) to Samuel, sr. 29 May 1683; 3) 1 Jan 1686; 4) 16 Mar 1696-7; 5) to Samuel and Sarah 25 Jul 1704. Most genealogies don't appear to account for these children, making it probable there is not enough information to be sure.
#1 probably belongs to the elder Samuel, occurring only 2 months after the marriage of the younger Samuel. #2 is explicitly identified as the elder Samuel.
#3 is probably the younger Samuel because it fills an otherwise odd 4-year gap between John and Sarah, preserving a seemingly regular sequence of births every 2 years in this family. #4 is explicitly the younger Samuel, and #5 is undoubtedly the younger Samuel due to dates.
