Marriage is Intended Between Sam'll Griff and Deborah Robins both of Warwick in the County of Hampshire Jan'ry 21st 1780.
↑ The Samuel Griff named as husband has not been identified, nor do there appear to be many candidates. It is odd that the Warwick records follow the births of the children of Samuel and Deborah Griff, with no separating line, with the birth of Samuel, s/o of Samuel Griffiths and Mary (Eager, according to Allred) his wife, in 1802. This suggests they might be the same man? No death of his previous wife, nor of his previous son Samuel has been found, both events being required for this to be true. On the other hand, this Samuel Griffith d. 1810, and Mary Eager is identified by Allred as born in 1763, so an older woman, as might marry a widower.
