This combines with the lack of Samuel or his first wife signing the release of a release of step-father Richard Norcross for his handling of her father's estate to indicate Samuel's first wife Rebecca Shattuck had died, and that he had remarried. Less focused, but still relevant, is an article on Samuel Church's son "Samuel Church of Stonington, Conn.", Vol. 118, p. 264, particularly the early part which connects Samuel Church of Groton to Samuel Church of Voluntown.
