  2. Esther's maiden name is assumed to be Sawtell/Sawtelle despite the spelling in the marriage record. Part of this is suggested by one spelling seen for Sawtelle: Satle, and Elnathan Sawtelle (son of Obadiah) has a marriage as "Elnathan Satley". No birth record has been found. But it appears unknown which family she belongs to. NEHGR, Vol. 126, p. 8, "Richard Sawtell of Watertown, Mass." by Dale C. Kellogg and John B. Threlfall, says "probably" daughter of Obadiah, b. prob. 1689-1693: "For Esther to be a daughter of Obadiah, she, Hephzabeth, Zachariah and Josiah 2nd must have been born within a period of about four years. Possibly there were twins; otherwise, she could be a daughter of Zachariah2." (Zachariah married by 1684 his second wife Anna Parker and died by 1692.) Obadiah Jr. named a daughter Esther, which might suggest some connection.
