The 1910 Federal Census in Hart Township in Michigan on April 25, 1910 listed the family:

Blake, Roy W. - head (of household) male white 31 yrs married; he was born in Michigan; his father born in Vermont; and his mother was born in Illinois (?) He spoke English; his occupation was a commission (?) merchant of produce; he could read and write.

Blake, Grace J. - wife female white 24 yrs married; she was born in Illinois; her father was born in (something illegible) England; her mother was born in Ire-England (?) She spoke English; she could read and write.

Blake, Harold G. - son male 1/2 yr single.

Ages listed for Roy and Grace, 31 and 24 respectively, as of their last birthday in 1909, do not agree with other sources. For instance, Grace would have then been born in 1885 rather than 1888 if she was 24 years old in 1909. Roy would have been 34 in 1909 if birth certificate is correct.

The 1920 Federal Census in Hart Township in Michigan on January 2, 1920 listed the family:

Blake, Roy - head (of household) male white 40 yrs married; he was born in Michigan; his father born in Vermont; and his mother was born in Illinois (?) His occupation was Produce Buyer, Produce Warehouse.

Blake, Grace - wife female white 33 yrs married; she was born in Illinois; her father was born in England; her mother was born in Ireland)

Blake, Harold - son white male 10 yrs single.

Blake, Laverne- daughter white female 7 yrs single

Comment: Agriculture never fully recovered from the 1920 recession in the United States. Because of World War I, US agriculture did well between 1914-1920. However, thereafter it didn't do well and possibly contributed to Roy and Grace returning to Chicago sometime after 1920. Roy was a produce buyer.

Roy W. Blake, Head, rents home for $30 a month, has a radio, male, white, age 53, born in Michigan, father born in Vermont, mother born in Illinois (s/b New York), occupation is sales clerk, retail merchandise.

Grace Blake, wife, female, white, age 43, born in Illinois, father born in England, mother born in the Irish Free State, occupation-none.

Harold Blake, son, male, white,age 20, born in Michigan.

Laverne Blake, daughter, female, white, age 18, born in Michigan

Roy's pension/disability papers indicated they lived at various addresses during 20's and 30's: August 5, 1925 - 7303 Oglesby, Chicago February 19, 1934- 1731 E. 86th Place, Chicago November 6, 1928 -8152 Lafayette, Chicago December 1, 1922- Hart Michigan
