  2. The mother of their children is recorded as Nancy. This is a "diminutive form of Anne", which may be an interchangeable alternate form of Hannah. All records excepts the births seem to call her Hannah, so it is assumed to be the same person. Pierce is not the most reliable source, but his information seems to come from a correspondent very familiar with the family, and various other sources appear to support him, such as the gravestone of Prenctice, the "onely" son of "Mr. Rodolphus & Mrs. Hannah D. Field". It is possible, if the births were recorded as a family group, that the mother's name was only written once...
