'Robert Bird, Gentleman, ... wrote his detailed and interesting last will and Testament on July 17, 1694 and it was admitted to probate on December 14, 1696 in King and Queen County court [citing Suit papers, Birds vs Dunn, Archives Division, Virginia State Library, No. 25817]. He mentions his second wife Catherine Bird, formerly the wife of Mr. Thomas Holmes and her two daughters by him, and his children (obviously by a former wife), viz: William, Robert, Anna and Mary Bird,'
