Wikipedia has an article entitle the Manor of Bideford which is really a genealogy of the Grenville family from 1142 through 22 generations to 1711. In the description of the first Sir Richard de Grenville who died after 1142 it states "Richard de Grenville is by tradition the founder and ancestor of the prominent Westcountry Grenville family of Stowe in the parish of Kilkhampton in Cornwall and of Bideford in Devon."
