↑ Nicholas' first wife was probably Magdalena Widmer, recorded as the mother of his second child. If so, it is not certain which children beyond the first two (Hans and Anna) were hers. The third child, Magdalena, was probably named after her, but this could have been because she was the mother or because she was recently deceased. It is not unreasonable to assume that the sixth child, Catherina, was named after Nicholas' second wife, but it is purely conjecture to assign the third child to Magdalena and the fourth and fifth to Catherina.
