  2. Based on the birth of their son 2 Nov 1729, one would suspect either the marriage or the birth is misrecorded. The marriage here is recorded as 1729, but in a list of marriages titled "Mariges by me John Cotton from May 1729 to May 17[29]" so it does appear 1728 was intended. The records appear to be in date order spanning a period of one year, which would be typical for a minister doing a once-a-year report to the town clerk. It just appears that 1729 was added mechanically at the end of each record, even those that should have said 1728. While the heading goes off the edge of the page, John Cotton's 1729 marriages follow in a separate list that follows immediately after this list.
