Source:Rich, Shebnah. Truro--Cape Cod, or, Land Marks and Sea Marks, p. 536, notes three unplaced Hardings in Truro: Joseph m. 1740 Eunice Newcomb, Hannah m. 1741 Gamaliel Smith, Ruth m. 1742 David Dyer. Baptisms show the last two to be children of this family, and they also place here the David Harding suggested with a question mark by Source:Cutter, William Richard. Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Boston and Eastern Massachusetts, p 4:1922. It is attractive to place all unknown Hardings into this family, being the first one in Truro, and one would suspect Joseph would belong, as both parents had a father named Joseph. But his marriage intention to Eunice Newcomb labels him of Eastham, suggesting he is the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Harding of Eastham.
