"Our conclusion is that Nathan Fish and Deborah Barrows were married at the date in the Plymouth vital records, 20 December 1687, and that their son 'bartolew' was born on 16 June 1688 (not 1687), for which the Plymouth Church admonished Deborah Fish for fornication. Consequently, there is no basis for asserting the existence of a daughter of Jacob and Mary (Nye) Burgess named Deborah. DeLene Holbrook’s interpretation of the correction to the 1709 record as possibly being baro (see footnote 6) also lends strength to this conclusion."
