  1. Estimated marriage date of before 1669 is based on birth of his eldest son. There is some question about which is his eldest son, but before 1669 seems to work for all possible cases.

Chelmsford VRs, p. 21: "Barron, Moses, s. Moses [Elyas. CT.R.] and Mary, Oct. 28, 1669"
    Groton VRs, p. 22, "Barron, John, s. Moses, Mar. 26, 1669. CTR".

One of the few comprehensive sources on this family is an article "The Ellis Barron Family", Source:TAG, p. 20:135. Unfortunately, in many ways, this article makes the confusion worse. The article doesn't show Ellis, Jr. with any son named Moses, and he didn't name one in his will. Though it is true that the Chelmsford birth could be squeezed into his family as hinted by the county copy, there is no evidence that Ellis Jr. had a son named Moses, so this doesn't seem likely.

John, who lived at Groton, has a will naming sons John and Moses, and the article turns the above Groton record around, making Moses the son and John the father, so his son Moses is shown b. 26 Mar 1669.

For Moses, who lived in Chelmsford and was the only one with wife Mary, the article re-uses the Groton record and appears to ignore the Chelsmford record! Thus Moses' eldest son is shown as John b. 26 Mar 1669, and son Moses is shown with an unknown birth date, though his death record in Chelmsford in 1719 aged 50 is mentioned, which of course suggests Moses was born in 1668 or 1669.

The TAG article is probably on the right track in suggesting the Groton record was recorded backward, making John's son Moses b. Groton 26 Mar 1669. The Chelmsford record appears to be Moses and the "Elyas" recorded on the county copy is probably an error, making Moses' son Moses b. Chelmsford 28 Oct 1669, and thereby matching his death record in 1719, aged 50.
