Louis and Mary were married by Rev. F. X. Labonte. Their witnesses were Emile Pepe, Rose Lomont, Clem Lomont and Florence Snider.

Louis was a farmer in Jefferson Township in Allen County, Indiana.

When he registered for the draft for World War I, he was living at R. R. #4, New Haven, Indiana. He was a farmer, working for himself. He gave his next of kin as Ida Roussel, his wife. He was described as of medium height and medium build with blue eyes and black hair.

Ida's obituary reads, "Mrs. Mary Ida Roussel, 82, R. R. 2, New Haven, died at 5 p.m. yesterday in Parkview Memorial Hospital after a six weeks illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson Township, a member of St. Louis Catholic Church at Besancon and was a member of the Rosary Sodality. Mrs. Roussel and her husband, Louis, Sr., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary April 16. Additional survivors include three sons, Louis, Jr., Fort Wayne, Wilbur C., Albuquerque, N.M., Aldon, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. J. H. McGary, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Herman Jacquay, Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at E. Harper and Son Funeral Home and at 10:30 at St. Louis Catholic Church with Rev. Andrew Mathieu officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery here. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rosary Sodality will hold services at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Sunday 1 October 1961, pg. 7A]

Louis' obituary reads, "Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, New Haven, and at 9 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon, for Louis Roussel, Sr., 86, R. R. 1, New Haven, Rev. Fred J. Cardinali officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery there. Mr. Roussel, a native of Illinois, came to Indiana 78 years ago. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Roussel died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Hospital where he had been a patient for seven days. He had lived at the Sacred Heart Home, Avilla, since last June. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon, and its Holy Name Society. Surviving are three sons, Wilbur, Albuquerque, N.M., Louis Jr. and Aldon both of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. J. H. McGary, Lake Worth, Fla. and Mrs. Herman Jacquay, Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to E. Harper & Sons Funeral Home, New Haven, where friends may call after 1 p.m. today. The Holy Name Society will meet in the funeral home at 8 p.m. today." Louis and Ida are both buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
