    ... Leonard Smith, son of Capt. John and Elizabeth (Fenwick) Smith, was a native of Frederick County, Md., and in his time a large planter. He was a man of considerable means and was a prominent citizen of the county. He was married to Elizabeth Jamison, daughter of Leonard Jamison and granddaughter of Henry Jamison, who in 1774 bought a large portion of the "Merryland Tract" in Frederick County.
