The error-filled Source:Reed, Jacob Whittemore. History of the Reed Family in Europe and America, which probably relied on correspondence with family members, listed Roxanna as daughter of Jotham Turner. This would be easy to discount, except that the apparent mention of "Roxyan Farmer, wid." in the marriage record seems to give some credence to Reed's information. The birth and death records in Burlington both list Roxanna's birth name as Farmer, but may have been based on informants at the time of death, since she was not born in Burlington, and there is no birth record in Billerica under either Farmer or Turner. Thus, after nearly half a century of marriage to Joshua Reed, her early history could easily have been forgotten. However, there was a Jotham Farmer of Billerica, mentioned in a court case for example, while no Jotham Turner seems to have existed. Therefore, it appears Farmer is correct?
