↑ The information posted on this page is somewhat speculative. The identity of Joshua Appleton is a bit of a mystery, Source:Appleton, William S. Genealogy of the Appleton Family not showing any Joshua who married Mary Wilson, and including Elizabeth and Rebecca on his list of "Who Were the Following?". No record of him shows up in Rhode Island where the marriage intention says he is from. It is not entirely clear that the Boston couple is the same as the Bedford intentions, though husband and wife are named the same, and this is about the time Mary's father died. Coverage of Joshua Appleton of New London shows a son Joshua Appleton to first wife Elizabeth Hubbell who would have been about 32 at the time of marriage, but little seems to be known about him. The variation of location could suggest he was a mariner, unless, of course, it is different persons?
