  4. Reasons for doubt whether James was a son of Joseph:
-A record of James' baptism confirming the names of his parents has not been found.
-James is not named in Joseph's will.
-That would make James a first cousin of his wife.
Reasons for supposing he was a son of Joseph:
-Some of Joseph's children seem not to have been mentioned by name in his will. Joseph's will mentions his "son John and other my children." And a contemporary newspaper account of Joesph's death referred to "his family, which is numerous."
-James was a currier, as Joseph had been.
-According to the censuses, James was born in Kidderminster in about 1803 or 1804, and Joseph and Susannah were having children there at this time.
-One of Joseph's sons married one of James' wife's sisters, so a marriage between children of these two families was very plausible.
