  2. TAG, "The Daughters of Simon1 Eire of Watertown and Boston, Mass." by Robert Charles Anderson, p. 65:21-23, suggests that claims that Joseph Tainter's wife was Mary guy may be incorrect. "... he must have been son of Nicholas' wife Jane by an earlier husband. This leaves Joseph's wife Mary unidentified. ... propose that Mary, the eldest daughter of Simon Eire, married about 1642 Joseph Tainter." Jane Guy's will refers to "my sonne Joseph Tainter" and "my daughter Mary the wife of Henry Curtise". The passenger list of the Confidence in 1638 lists Nicholas Guy age 50, Jane Guy age 30, Mary Guy with no age, and Joseph Tainter age 25 servant, Robert Bayley age 23 servant (here. Anderson further claims Mary's name is incorrectly given as Guy, that she must be Mary Tainter, a full sister of Joseph Tainter, since son Ephraim Curtis is born in 1642 which would require Mary's birth be before the marriage of Nicholas Guy to Jane Tainter in 1629, and as far as is known, Nicholas had no daughter Mary by his first wife.
