Joseph Lewis Miller was the fourth son of Jacob Joseph Miller. Located on the SW quarter of section 33, twp. 79, range 31 in 10/1853 and put up his cabin with the help of his neighbor--it had a sod chimney. He owned 120 acres of land--20 acres were timber. He raised cattle and other stock. He first moved with his parents to Park Co. IN. He held the offices of trustees, school director and road supervisor.

Joseph Miller was a Civil War Veteran.
