  1. In Source:Nantucket, Nantucket, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Nantucket, Massachusetts to the Year 1850, p. 5:187, is found "Coffin, Tristram, h. Hannah (d. John Brown and Rachel), s. Peter and Elizabeth (Starbuck), 13th, 12 mo. 1730, PR38." But careful searching also finds the death of the remarried widow Hannah Pinkham is reported on the same date on p. 5:483. The latter seems to be the correct death, as Hannah's second husband Jonathan remarried in 1731. So Tristram's death, and hence Jonathan's first marriage, must have occurred earlier. According to Source:Worth, Henry B. Nantucket Lands and Land Owners, volume 2, issue 1, p. 302, a probated document of Peter Coffin's estate (father of Tristram), dated 3 Feb 1708, noted that "Hannah, the widow of the brother Tristram, is now wife of Jonathan Pinkham", so we can place the marriage before this date.
