John Wilson [the father] appears in Woburn after 1655 with his wife [whose name does not appear in any record] and two children, John Jr. and Dorcas.

  2. John's probate shows that his widow was named Hannah. Whether she was the mother of his children is unknown. Source:Maine Historical Magazine (Porter, Joseph W), Vol. 7, p. 229 speculates he had a wife Susannah d/o Rev. John Miller, and widow named Rebecca. The second part being wrong, and unlikely given the age of the widow (b. abt 1664), conspire to make the first part not credible without evidence. Source:Stevens, Ken. Descendants of John Wilson of Woburn, Massachusetts, p. 4, says his wife is Hannah James. This is based entirely on family tradition as found in a manuscript entitled "Grandmother Mighill's Story" which now only exists in transcript form, apparently based on interview in 1820 with a great-granddaughter who lived 1730-1821, i.e., born 50 years after John Wilson died. The book notes that no such marriage record has been located by researchers.
