In 1930, they were living on Elm Street in Kearny, NJ. John, Sarah, and two children, Irene and Robert, immigrated in 1920. Sarah, Irene, Robert Hanna, and Maurice John arrived in New York aboard the “S.S. Carmania” from Liverpool on 9 November 1920. Her nearest relative is given as her mother, Mrs. S. Stewart, of 9, Distillery, Belfast. But this is probably her mother-in-law. Their final destination is given as N.Y.C., but they are going to join her husband, John Stewart, at 14 Halstead St., Kearny, NJ. By 1930, John and Sarah were not yet citizens, but they had submitted papers. Another daughter, Frances, was born in the United States. John was a machinist in a cotton thread mill.
