  2.   Note: Source:May, Samuel Pearce. Descendants of Richard Sares (Sears) of Yarmouth, Mass., 1638-1888, p. 77, erroneously adds a son Nathan to this family, bp. 5 Jul 1741. There is apparently no further information about this son, because May says he "d. young". But in reality, the real reason there is no further information on him is that he belongs to a different family, that of John's brother Judah's family. Judah being named as the father in the birth record of Nathan in June 1741. The baptism record (MD, p. 7:147) does list the father as John, but this clearly an error, as besides the mentioned birth record, John's daughter Rebecca was baptized a mere 4 months before, which given the typical behavior of baptizing children when about one month old, or even less, would not happen.
