    Amalia W. Schoennauer vs. John Schoennauer, Bill Gen No 59504

    This day came again the said complainant by B M Munn Esq., her Solicitor, and it appearing to the Court that said defendant has had due notice of the pendency of this suit by personal sence of process according to the Statute in such case made and provided, that the default of said Defendant was taken and the Complainant's Bill of Complaint herein taken as confessed by said Defendant.

    And the Court having heard the testimony taken in open Court, in support of said Bill of Complaint (a certificate of which evidence is filed herein), and now being full advised in the premises, doth find that the Complainant is an actula resident of Cook County, and has been a resident of the State of Illinois for over one whole year prior to the filing of the bill in this cause, and that the defendant has been guilty of extreme and repeated cruelty without her fault as charged in the Complainant's Bill of Complaint.

    On motion of said solicitor for the Complainant, it is ordered, adjudged and decreed, and this Court, by virtue of the power and authority therein vested, and the statute in such case made and provided, doth order, adjudge and decree, that the bonds of matrimony heretofore existing between the Complainant Amalia W. Schoennauer and the Defendant John Schoennauer be and the same are hereby dissolved, and the same are dissolved accordingly.

    And it is further ordered that complainant have the care and custody of minor children William and Arthur Schoennauer until further Order of Court. And that defendant pay the necessary expenses of the care support and education of said children during their minority, and pay the costs of this proceding.

    This is to certify that the Marriage Record of St.Paul's Church shows (1869--pg 76--#1061) that on the seventh (7) day of February 1869 Johann Schoenauer, of Philadelphia, Pa. and Miss Amalie Wilhelmine Schlichting of West Prussia, Germany were by Rev Joseph Hartmann, then Pastor, UNITED IN MARRIAGE.   4. Small wedding ceremony took place at St. Paul's Church. Church was destroyed in the Chicago Fire. Some of it's records survived and are located in the basement of the new building, with some of the books still showing fire and smoke damage on the bindings and paper edges.
