  5.   There appears to be a lot of confusion over the identity of the John Peterson who married Elizabeth Bailey in 1852. He was NOT Jonathan Peterson, son of Isaac and Nancy (Grinnell) Peterson, b. 1839, who would have been too young (and who has a separate record in the 1880 census with his wife Anna). He was NOT John Amberson/Ambrose Peterson, son of Amos and Sarah (Taylor) Peterson, b. 1837, also pretty much too young, and with a separate record in the 1880 census with his wife Lydia. His parents may have been Isaac and Nancy (Grinnell) Peterson, who had a son born between 1830 and 1835 according to the 1840 census, who might be this John.
