John's wife is not Deborah Hills. Source:Hills, William Sanford. Genealogical Data Relating to the Ancestry and Descendants of William Hills, the English Emigrant to New England in 1632, and, p. 76, says that Joseph Hills by deed 5 Oct 1676 conveyed an estate in trust for "Deborah, the wife of John Pemberton of Malden". This has led to people assuming that Deborah was the daughter of Joseph Hills. But the Source:Corey, Deloraine P. Births, Marriages and Deaths in the Town of Malden, Massachusetts, 1649-1850, clearly showed that his daughter Deborah died in 1662. Since there are other situations where he could be holding an estate in trust (guardian for example), some other explanation than it being his daughter must be looked for.
