1850 census

The 1850 census indicates that 12 year old John Ferguson was part of the family. Interesting to find out his relationship to the family and his circumstances. Oddly enought, John Ferguson (12 years, born in Indiana) also shows up in the household of David G. Ellison (house 8, family 99); this survey was done the same day (17th Sep).

Also in the 1850 census, the family lived "next door" to a household (house 86, family 87) with Nancy Mills (65 years) and Jemima Mills (40 years) in residence; both were born in North Carolina. The 1860 census shows a Jemimah Mills (48 years, born in North Carolina) and a Moses M. Mills (12 years, born in Indiana) living together not far from the family (house 1851, family 1872). Moses in both families are about the same age and born in the same place -- which brings up the possibility that Moses was counted twice, even though the enumerations took place on the same day.
