No. 65
Jno. Marshall of this Parish and Elizabeth Madle of this Parish Widow were Married in this Church by Banns this twenty first Day of October in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and seventy one By me Coriolanus Copleston Curate
This Marriage was solemnized between Us { The Mark of Jno. Marshall X / The Mark of Elizth Madle X
In the Presence of { Sarah Dukes / James Jackson
The witness James Jackson appears to have witnessed several marriages around this time, suggesting he may have been a church warden or similar. It's possible that the witness Sarah Dukes was a relative of the groom's - there was a Sarah Marshall who married Giles Dukes on 23 Feb 1770 at St Sepulchre Holborn in London, before settling in Luton. Further work needed to establish if there might be a link there.
