This marriage has been located by the Online Parish Clerk for Axminster. Samuel and Ann were married by licence. Hawkchurch was in Dorset until 1896. It is now a part of the County of Devon.

The Musbury Parish Records indicate that the Gordges were in Musbury at the time of the birth of Samuel, but were not of the parish, so their origions are elsewhere. Records show that a Samuel and Ann Gordge had children christened at Hawkchurch which is approximately 4 miles from Musbury. (Note from Bruce Gilding)
