There were also children baptised at nearby Tavistock whose parents were listed as John and Mary Drake: John in 1746 and William Francis in 1749. However, it is not considered that they belong to the same couple who were living at Bere Ferrers; both the baptisms at Tavistock specify the father as "Mr John Drake", indicating status, whilst in 1752 "Mary wife of Mr John Drake" was buried at Tavistock, such that the couple in Bere Ferrers whose youngest was not baptised until 1754 was almost certainly a different couple.
