History of the Early Settlement of Newton, County of Middlesex, Massachusetts, from 1639 to 1800, p. 258, erroneously gives the name of John's wife as Ann Pierce, which was repeated in Source:Clark, John. Records of the Descendants of Hugh Clark, of Watertown, Mass. 1640-1866. According to Source:NEHGR, p. 25:22, there is no such person as Ann Pierce of Dorchester, and the wife is identified as the daughter of Thomas Bird and Thankful Atherton. Note that John and Anne of Newton named a son Atherton.
