[The presentation in S1 suggests that Nourse's conclusions were his own research and not based on any actual records. This article is primarily a rebuttal to S2, attempting to correct John's relationship to Benanuel, and the maiden name of his wife. The identification of his wife in this source as Elizabeth Wilder, not Elizabeth Stevens, cites Source:Holman, Mary Lovering. Ancestry of Colonel John Harrington Stevens and His Wife, Frances Helen Miller for a deed, which on p. 7 of that source cites Worcester deed 4:25 24 Jun 1709: Simon Stevens & John Bowers both of Lancaster yeomen for £21 to each of us paid by "our brother" Ephraim Wilder of Lancaster Husbandman with free consent of our wives namely Mary ye wife of me ye Said Simon Stevens & Elisabeth ye wife of me ye s'd John Bowers all real estate in right of our wives from "their Hon'r father Natha'll Wilder" late of Lancaster Decea'd.]
