  2.   Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. History of the Town of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts from Its Settlement in 1717 to 1829, p. 225, says Asa, Ezekiel and Edmund Bouker were probably brothers of John, all sons of John and Mary Howe. However, this would mean John, b. 1679, married when he was over 50. This seems unlikely. However, John and Freedom did name a son Ezekiel, indicating some kind of a tie to John Bouker and Mary Howe, who had a son named Ezekiel. A marriage in 1731 would suggest a birth before 1710, and the John b. 1679 was of legal age to marry any time after 1700. So it is possible that this John is actually the grandson of John Bouker and Mary Howe?

Having children in Westborough about the same time as John and Freedom is Josiah Bowker and his wife Hasadiah Eager. He could well be related to John.

Source:Encyclopedia of Massachusetts, Biographical - Genealogical, p. 5:73, says this John is the son of John, b. 1679, d. 1710, m. Ruth Howe, but the details are suspiciously vague: the father left no will and the settlement of his estate only mentions the grandfather and wife. They are alleged to have had sons John, Josiah and perhaps one other child. Source:Howe, Daniel Wait. Howe Genealogies, p. 11, appears to say the same thing.

However, this is all far from clear. For example, there is a Josiah who was son of Michael and Experience Bowker of Newton, b. 1707. There is also a John Bouker of Hopkinton who married Sudbury 1721 Sarah Clapp, and later Hannah (as he had his own son John born in 1735, he appears to be a different individual).
