    Mr Joel Peirce of Warwick Entered his intentions of Marriage with Miss Hannah Whitney of Royalston County of Worcester } September 30 - 1830.

  3. Source:Allred, Marilyn. Town of Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Genealogical Records 1739-1900, Births, Marriages,, p. 213, gives this couple an infant daughter, b. 17 Dec 1836. No such daughter is found in the records (Vol. 2, p. 183) and it is presumed that the second line of the entry describing their adopted daughter was misinterpreted as a separate child, instead of recognizing it as a continuation. Then the date was changed without explanation based on the assumption it was a misrecording, being too close to Jotham's birth to be a natural child. No such child is found in the 1850 census (lines 8-13), nor is a death date for such a child found. It appears to be a careless error compounded by guessing.
