Although we cannot substantiate this date from other sources, it is probable the author received it from their daughter, Nancy Viets, in 1860. It is consistent with the fact that Jesse was listed in the census or Ashtabula County in 1820, and not thereafter, and with the land sales of Jesse and Temperance in Ashtabula Township 1881-1825.
