  1. Warwick (Massachusetts). Town Clerk. Vital records, 1739-1900
    Vol. 1, p. 108.

Marrage is Intended Between Jeremiah Dean of Unity in the State of New Hampshire and Jemima Conant of Warwick in the County of Hampshire March the 6: 1779.

  2. The births of three of the children name the mother as Millicent. Thus Source:Cooper, Marion Deane. Descendants of John Dean (1650-1727) of Dedham, Mass, p. 75, says he m. (1) Millicent ---, m. (2) Jemima ---. It is significant that this source seems unaware of the marriage dates or maiden names of the alleged wives. Clearly, instead, it was an error in the recording, since the intentions to Jemima Conant prior to the birth of any child, and then her recorded death in 1803, rules out a wife Millicent during this period. It appears the town clerk erroneously recorded Millicent as mother of the first daughter, also named Millicent, and then copied the error for the next two entries, before getting the correct name after that.
