  1.   Source:Norton, John Foote. History of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire, from 1752 to 1887, p. 689, gives James and Abigail a daughter Priscilla, b. 10 Aug, 1749. It is not known if this comes from Fitzwilliam records or the author's own research, but the latter is suspected because the birth occurred in Lunenburg, and the parents are explicitly named as "Samuel Reed & of Mary his wife" on the record in Lunenburg. Meanwhile James and Abigail's daughter Priscilla's birth is recorded in Lunenburg on 17 Dec 1748, which is in slight conflict with Abigail's birth 20 Jan 1748 in Brookfield, depending on how double-dating is interpreted, and has some appearance of being a misrecording of Abigail, as opposed to a distinct daughter. Since both Priscilla's are said to have married the same man, there is no evidence that two Priscilla's existed, and this family perhaps had no daughter Priscilla? Sources, and a fuller discussion, may be found on Person:Priscilla Reed (4). Further research may supply more clues.
  2.   Source:Fitchburg Historical Society. Proceedings of the Fitchburg Historical Society, Vol. 4, p. 123, on a paper on General Reed, says his "family consisted of six sons and five daughters". Lunenburg records give only six sons and 2 daughters, and Brookfield records may or may not give another (see above discussion). The History of Fitzwilliam, which would presumably have access to town records, still only gives 6 sons and 3 daughters. What the basis for thinking there are two more daughters is unclear.
