On 11 May 1812 in Sumner Co., TN Court (Lawsuit # 9129), Frances Dugger, single woman of Sumner sued James Bruce Jr for bastardy (fathering her child out of wedlock). The suit said that the child wasn't yet born. (Thanks to Joyce Blocker for sharing this record.)

The record above does not give the name of the child as he wasn't born yet.

On 29 Apr 1813 the case was brought up again, or else there was another child involving the same parties.
