  1. There is a marriage to Mary Brown and then all the children appear to be born to James and Mary. For example, Source:Wilder, Justin E. Book of the Wilders, p. 595, calls 2nd child Mary the daughter of James Bridges and Mary Brown. However, the 5-year gap between child #1 and child #2 suggests something else is afoot. Checking the original town record, p. 24, the family register for James Bridges lists all the children, and the birth of Mary, the second child, actually names the mother as "Mary his Second wife". So Mary Brown must have died and he must have remarried. Southborough VRs does list the death of his first wife Mary in 1756.
