James Alexander, designed "of Boghall," eldest son of Robert Alexander of Blackhouse, was born in 1634......1655, he was ordained minister....he was summoned to Ayr in March 1699; he died of fever in the same year about the age of thirty-four (Fasti Eccl. Scot., vol. ii., p. 250) He married Mary, daughter of John Maxwell of Southbar by Elizabeth, daughter of William Cunningham of Craigends; Mary d. 1670.
They had a son John and four daughter Elizabeth, Mary,Jean and Anna.
John Alexander, only son of Mr. James Alexander, succeeded his father in the estate of Boghall in 1669, and his grandfather, Robert Alexander, in the lands of Blackhouse in 1687.
