"Capt. Jacob Griswold [and] Comfort Buck m. a 1713 We do not find a direct connecting link between Comfort and Capt. Jacob, yet the circumstantial evidence is strong enough to be rated at about a 100% surety. In Vol. II, p 138 Stiles there are 12 good reasons given why these two became man and wife."

"Charles H. Woodruff, Esq., of N. Y. City, suggests, with much probability of correctness, that she {Comfort Buck] m. Capt. Jacob Griswold, of Weth., New Milford and Litchfield, of which latter place he was an original settler, and one of its most distinguished citizens. He bases his theory on the following strong circumstantial evidence, seemingly proving that she was the dau. of Ezekiel Buck, of Weth.:
    1. Ezekiel Buck had a daughter Comfort.
    2. There is no record of her marriage to any other.
    3. She was of suitable age, b. Dec. 7, 1692. J. G. was born Mch. 26, 1690.
    4. There is no record of his marriage.
    5. Their families were neighbors and intimate.
    6. Their respective grandfathers bought land together.
    7. On the settlement of New Milford, J. G. removed there in 1712-13, secured a 'home lot' and built him a house, and was therefore (probably) then married.
    8. Comfort Buck was then 20 years old.
    9. Two years later, 1715, her brothers Jonathan & Enoch followed to and settled in New Milford.
    10. In 1720, J. G., with his wife Comfort, removed to Litchfield.
    11. Jonathan Buck accompanied him from New Milford to the new settlement.
    12. Ezekiel, another brother of Comfort, with his son Ezekiel, joined them from Wethersfield."
