Packard, Martha and Jo[h]n [sic, ? Isaac] Alden Jr., Nov. 6, 1755. [Jo[h] Jr., P.C.R.]
[The question about Isaac is in the original, placed there by the compiler. The questioning is based on the death record of Isaac in 1758 which labels him "h. Martha". We know the husband of Martha died before 1760 because Martha remarried and is labeled a widow in that marriage record. There is a death record for John in 1759, but it is for John Sr. and labels him "h. Hannah, h. Rebecca", and the John Jr who was b. 1729, s/o John and Hannah, has a death record in 1747 (John Sr. then had another son John in late 1747 by his second wife Rebecca). So John Jr. died before Martha married the first time. Since both the Isaac Jr. and John Jr. in question had the same parents (John and Hannah), this may make it easier to understand why the clerk mis-recorded this. In the end, it seems pretty clear that this record applies to Isaac. The Packard Genealogy and Mitchell's History of Bridgewater both agree.]
