- ↑ Faith is mentioned as his wife in the will of Hubert Patey, dated 15 Mar 1686 (see Source:Petty Papers : A Genealogical Research Quarterly Newsletter (J.W. Petty), vol. 1, no. 1, p. 23). Some sources suggest Faith may have been a "pet name" for first wife Rebecca, but this does not ring true for several reasons:
1. use of "pet names" in legal documents unlikely
2. no role in probate for wife, unusual if she was his first and only wife
