Tod's obituary reads, "Monroeville. HAROLD A. "TOD" OBERLEY, 88, of Monroeville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, 6:55 p.m. at his residence, following an illness of several months. Born Sunday, June 20, 1920, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Elmer A. Oberley and Cecilia R. (Mourey) Oberley, Tod served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Mary Ellen Sheaks on July 10, 1943, in Alexandria, LA.; she preceded him in death on May 17, 2008. Tod was a retired former owner of the Zulu Garage and R-T Sales in Zulu, Ind., and a member of St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church in New Haven. He was a life member of both American Legion Post 330 in New Haven and V.F.W. 2457 in New Haven. Tod enjoyed auto racing, gardening, flowers, snow mobiling, his family and grandkids. Surviving are his son, Ronald G. Oberley of New Haven; daughter, Rita M. (James) Hakes of Monroeville; daughters-in-law, Lynne Oberley of Fort Wayne, Peggy Oberley of Grabill and Stephanie Oberley of New Haven; sisters, Maybelle Feasby of Columbia City, Mary Ann Walker of Fort Wayne, Jeanette Castle of Fort Wayne and Carol (Jerry) Mills of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Todd (Ramona) Oberley, Angela (Roger) Morrow, Chris (Rachel) Oberley, Jamie Hakes and Jessie Hakes; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sons, Rodney, Roger, Ricky and Randy Oberley; four brothers, Donald, Elmer "Bugs", Jack (twin) and Richard Oberley; three sisters, Marcella Oberley-Felger, Phyllis Alberding and Doris Sephel; and two grandsons, Sean and Joel Oberley. Prayer service is 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church, with Fr. Stephen Colchin officiating. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Rosary Service at 4 p.m. Interment in St. Louis Besancon Catholic Cemetery, with Military Graveside Service conducted at the cemetery.
