Thursday, June 16, 2005 Services were held Monday, June 13 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Tea for Gladys Ollerich who, having been in declining health, died on June 10, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls. She attained the age of 88 years, two months and 19 days.

Officiating during the service was the Rev. Al Krzyzopolski. Mary Powell was organist. Honorary pallbearers included Suzanne Lerdal, Michelle Farniok, Nicole Ollerich, Heidi Swinghammer, and Krystal Ollerich.

Casketbearers included Mike Trisler, Ryan Ollerich, Dean Lerdal, Steve Ollerich, Larry Ollerich, and Correy Farniok. Interment was held in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Lennox.

Gladys A. Jenks was born on Mar. 23,1917, at Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Ida Mae (Brody) Jenks. She grew up and attended school in Iowa until she moved with her family to Sioux Falls at age nine.

On Oct. 26, 1940 she married August William Ollerich at Los Angeles, California. The couple lived in California for two years and then moved to South Dakota. Gladys was a devoted homemaker, but also assisted with all the duties of the family farm and ranch operation. August died on Nov. 7, 1980. Gladys was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Tea. She loved children. As a result of this love, she volunteered many years at the Children's Inn in Sioux Falls and for several years at the Great Plains Zoo. She had a passion for gardening and cooking. She was well known for her fried chicken.

Besides her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by several siblings and a son, Paul Myron Ollerich in 1997.
