'I believe that the George and Mary Eastham whose estates were administered upon by John Rogers and Robert Goodloe in Caroline County in 1748 and 1756, were the parents of Rachel Rogers and that the maiden name of Mary Eastham was Mary Bird.' Arguments for this belief follow.

'We note in this quit rent roll of 1704 [of King and Queen County] that George Eastham is listed with 300 acres of land; it appears to me very likely this is the same land which his wife, nee Mary Bird, received by the will of her father, Robert Bird, Gentleman, ...'

  3. Mary is listed in her father's will (apparently as Mary Bird) on 17 Jul 1694, so presumably she was not married yet. A marriage year of 1696 is estimated based on the estimated birth year of their daughter Rachel.
