WEDDING

BROWN— ATKINS

A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Barnabas Church cf England, Upper Lansdowne, 0n Saturday, 6th June, the contracting parties being Miss Amy Atkins (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vic. Atkins, of Upper Lansdowne), and Mr. Eric George Brown (second son of Mr. and Mrs. George Brown, of Wherrol Flat). Rev. B. V. Davis, of Coopernock, was the officiating clergyman. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, who subsequently gave her away, to the strains of the "Voice that breathed o'er Eden." The bride was attired in a frock of white crepe marietta, and wore a tulle veil loaned by the bridegroom's sister (Mrs. George Thompson, of Elands), she carried a bouquet of arum lilies and stocks. The bride was attended by her sister (Miss Vera Atkins) who was frocked in Princess Marina blue crepe matelasse and wore a halo hat and shoes to match; She carried a bouquet of blue lupins and asparagus fern. The bridegroom was attended by his brother (Mr. John Brown). During the signing of the register Miss Norah McCaffrey, of Langley Vale, sang "Because." Mrs. J. McCaffrey (aunt of the bride) presided at the organ. The happy couple left the church to the strains of the Wedding March, and amidst showers of confetti. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where 80 guests were received by the bride's mother, who was attired in a frock of brown floral silk rayon, with hat and shoes to tone, and she carried a bouquet of pink roses. The bridegroom's mother was dressed in black tree-bark crepe, with hat and shoes to match, and carried a bouquet of red asters and roses. Rev. B. V. Davis presided at the breakfast, where the usual toasts were honored. After the breakfast the couple left for Port Macquarie and surrounding district, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride travelled in a royal blue corded wool-de-cliene costume, with navy blue hat and shoes. Mr. and Mrs Brown have taken up their residence at Wherrol Flat.
