Elijah Truitt Richey met and married the widow of William Josiah Rains, Mrs. Sarah Zorada Gray Rains, of DeKalb County, Alabama. They married on 17 December 1897 in Pine Forest. She taught school the first year she arrived in Pine Forest and my grandfather told me he never found a word she couldn't spell.

They had one child, James Albert Richey, b 4 July, 1898 and who died 6 Sept 1898. Their second child is Paul Gray Richey, born 27 September 1901, in Como, Hopkins County, Texas.
